Supply Chain Specialist

Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for activities resulting in overall improvement of the organization’s supply chain operations. The Supply Chain Specialist ensures that supplies and inventory are ordered, received, replenished, and kept at appropriate levels so the Centers can function properly. They are a main point of contact for suppliers, and they make sure any questions by members in their organization or those suppliers are dealt with in an effective and timely manner. The Supply Chain Specialist must stay up to date on information regarding changes in operations that may affect demand for supplies.

Supply Chain Specialists are highly organized and detail-oriented individuals who know how to manage overlapping projects, keep track of deadlines, and efficiently use their time. They are strong analytical thinkers with problem-solving skills and mathematical abilities, but they are also great communicators who are persuasive and skilled in negotiating. In order to achieve success, a Supply Chain Specialist must take initiative and be able to identify opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Supply Chain Management activities: ordering materials and planning to meet product demand; collecting and analyzing raw inventory positions
  • Assess current orders and forecast future demand in order to provide adequate supplies; responsible for responding to changes in demand and solving any supply chain problems that arise
  • Communicate regularly with Centers in order to avoid unforeseen changes or surprises in orders
  • Obtain, analyze and interpret supply chain relevant data in order to identify underperforming areas in the supply chain and suggest resolutions/improvements to problems/issues
  • Perform long term inventory data analysis, providing management with recommended action strategies in order to minimize inventory risk exposure for over or under-investment
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure that required materials are available to the meet production schedules

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience buying commodity materials and products
  • Capable of analyzing and reporting on historical trends to support future plans and targets
  • Ability to resolve day-to-day issues and situations that arise related to purchasing and operations
  • Experience working with ERP and P2P systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented: work must be accurate and complete
  • Ability to react quickly and positively to priority changes as required by the needs of internal customers
  • Ability to work well individually and with others

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Experience working with NetSuite systems
  • Experience working with Coupa P2P System
  • Experience in the Dental industry a plus
